No less enthusiasm

I realise now that our maths was wrong and I think that we have the Tang-master for another week at least. That is not to say that we are less enthusiastic than at the start. Not at all. In fact the boys are very attached, as we said before. Please don’t read into the lack of Blogs as a sign of indifference either. I simply haven’t been able to get at the computer much recently. Just got back from a church meeting – I didn’t take Tango. Although she gladly attended our home group last week (in our lounge to be honest so she didn’t get much chance to duck out).

She has enjoyed a good few walks over the last week. We went to Alvaston Castle onm Sunday where she got a few good bottom sniffs in. There was an opportunity for her to swim but she gave us a knowing look as if to say, “I don’t think you really want me to go in here just before I sit in your car!” There have been a few fond farewells as we have left bits of sticks in the car park. but all-in-all I think she is very satisfied. I am sure she misses the excitement and love that you guys give her but I think she is contented with her routine here.

Sadly it is the last week with Tango. We have loved everything about having her with us in Nottingham. Apart from picking up the poo. Jonah scooped his first poop today. He left us to do the one on bark chippings. Not a nice job. (excuse the pun).

Luke has loved having her around in the day. He lets her out in the morning so I am sure she loves him for that. But not as much as you. He likes being able to walk with her on the way home from school or at a park after school. We had a good walk with her in the local park yesterday (Saturday morning). There was a lot of dew on the grass so the Bowerman boys all tucked our trousers into our socks. I think Tango quite liked it because we looked like her, with her white socks.

I realise that I haven’t added any photos from last weekend properly. So here are some of Tango being a tourist. Hope you are feeling better soon, H. Make it to the Pacific!

Fun weekend

Not satisfied with seeing your photos of your exciting adventures, Tango decided that she needed a few of her own. With that in mind, she packed her bags and headed for the bright lights of the capital. Yes, that’s right. Tango is the only dog I know to travel 200 miles from the countryside to take a walk along the Embankment! Don’t worry, she got two stops on the way down to stretch her legs and do her stuff. She really seemed to enjoy being out and about. I went to a wedding at St Helens, Bishopsgate – just under the Guerkin. She went with Anna, Luke, Emily and Jonah. I will leave you with that tantalising thought. Photos to follow!

I like the way that you have managed to get yourself sponsored for your road trip, Steve. Every photo you are in has a strategically placed bit of merchandise. I think you need to re-consider your product placement message though – beer, cigarettes, fast cars and a pigeon. There might be impressionable young people seeing you living that lifestyle! Not that I am envious!

Tango (there you go again!) has had a good couple of days I think. She has done a wide variety of parks. Luke, Emily and I took her for a cycle yesterday. As her concerned parents, I am not sure that I should be telling you this. I haven’t told Anna yet that I had Emily on the kids seat at the back and Tango in my hand. She trots along quite happily, although you will be relieved to hear that I did walk most of the way! I thought about doing it the other way around but she caused a bit of disruption. Tango was fine, it was Emily with the dog collar who didn’t like running down the hills next to me.

When Saturday Comes

Tango has had a good first week. No major dramas and a few pleasant walks completed. Seh went to Wollaton park with Anna yesterday which means that we won’t get to go there today. I think we are heading out now. She hasn’t had a swim yet which I think is a good thing – we will try to keep her clean for a while longer yet. Maybe we will let her have a mud bath just before W and G come round. Got a couple of photos to put on Dog Blog later. Watch this space.

Reno

So, my friend was part of the 747 upgrade programme in the 80s and was required to do some test flights into Reno (I guess for hot testing but also because the Boeing guys liked the the casinos). Before landing, they needed to do an hour of 1000ft circuits. This had always been rather exciting because Reno sits in a bowl with large hills all around it. Unfortunately, since the last time they were there for the certification testing in 1969 the town suburbs had expanded into the foothills and from the plane windows they could see the engine blasting the garden chairs, pool equipment and washing all over the desert! When they landed the Boeing guys headed straight out to the casinos,leaving the Rolls guys to fend for themselves. By the time they had found a bar for lunch they were hot property. Just as the Reno news channel was showing an interview with the senator saying that the 747 would never come back to Reno, the sheriff and 10 of his men burst through the bar door. They were all marched back to the airfield and told to prepare to leave. He still delights in the idea that he was driven out of town by the sheriff.

We had another walk in the park tonight and, yes, I did manage to get up again to take her around a different block! (Now listening to the new Green Day album on Spotify by the way, it is great!). Anna is out at a church planning meeting for a potential new shop! I was upstairs with the boys and Emily when Tango came through the bedroom door! She seems okay on the stairs, even though the banister does not provide much of a hand hold! Anyway, she shuffled around and panted and kept walking between the two boys in bed. They loved it. But when I mentioned “wee” to Jonah she suddenly stopped panting and looked at me. I tried it again and she did the same. As soon as I stood up she headed through the door, down the stairs and straight to the patio door! Do you think she came up to tell me that she needed a wee? Anyway, Anna needs a break, apparently she has stored up her poo for her today!

I suspect that you won’t get tired of stories about Tango’s walks in our parks or going for a wee – she is your baby little girl after all! However, we might get tired of writing them. In order to add some spice to the blog (and in honour of your road trip through the States), I will tell you about a friend of mine who got run out of Nevada by the sheriff!

Tango walked to school to drop off and pick up today. She doesn’t pull so the boys took it in turns to hold the lead and then argued on the way home about who’s turn it was. She has eaten lots today and was fine when our home group came round. She went ot the park for races with E J and L after tea. Most amazing thing was that Ed got up at 7.10a.m. amd took her round the block before work…….unheard of seeing him before 8.20.a.m. normally.

Day one

Hi everybody.

Tango is in the house. She is snuggled under the breakfast bar with her collar off. You know that you can send this to Wayne and Glenna too don’t you? I don’t think there will be anything too X-rated! Which reminds me, are you planning on doing a Blog yourself?! She has been to the local park with Anna and the kids. It got dark but she enjoyed it. I guess the weather and darkness will have really closed in by the time that you get back here. She prob won’t be as clean as she is now! We will load some photos of her arrival when we get round to it tomorrow. What was the trick for getting her to eat stuff again. You told me at the park Helen but I have forgotten. I can ask that question now. If I asked it in three weeks time, you might get a bit worried! She is not scared of Grandpa Bonnie anymore (Insley) but ahs some reservations about Grandma! She just sniffs Bonnie - they don’t seem too bothered by each other! Time to go.We have been out for beer together tonight for the first time in a year! I am sure we won’t be drunk in charge of a dog ever again, don’t worry. House group here tomorrow so she will get prayed for. Bye for now! E A L J E T. and I B and B!
